OBJECTIVE :  Our client desired an innovative concept that highlighted the Italian menu of homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza, as well as a focus on wine.  This restaurant is in Chicago and the intended audience is 20-60 year olds, middle class, and is family and group friendly. The goal for this space is to be casual, lively, and inviting.

PROCESS: This design uses rustic textures paired with upscale finishes to aid to a calming and intimate setting; providing the perfect atmosphere for Chicago’s casual restaurant goers.

Taking advantage of the natural light makes the space feel open and airy and helps to bring the outdoors in. Through the use of soft, subtle lighting this space will be a frequent destination for our customers. To provide harmony in the space; we chose a neutral color palette with hints of color, to compliment the use of tin, copper, tile, and wood. To balance the richness of Italian architecture we used modern furnishings and lighting fixtures.

Placing a focus of wine and social interaction; aRoma, provides an authentic Italian experience that is refreshing and family friendly.

RESULT: Through the use of a live wall, a variety of seating options, suspended clouds, flooring transitions, a variety of lighting fixtures, and modular seating; we created an environment that is ideal for any restaurant goer. Biophilia is emphasized in the space to connect to the outdoors and is visually pleasing to the eye. Wood canopies paired with pendant lighting create destinations within the space. Pops of color throughout the restaurant promotes comfort and is visually and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Large copper pendants offer general lighting and provides modern qualities to the space. Flooring transitions define the space, is pleasing to the eye, and can direct traffic.
